Volunteer Overview

Volunteer Group Beacon of Hope

Our volunteers are the backbone of the New Orleans recovery process. We provide rebuilding and beautification projects that improve residents’ overall quality of life. Beacon of Hope hosts a variety of volunteers ranging from individuals to groups of up to 800 people (corporate groups, churches, community organizations, schools, and more). Unlike other volunteer agencies, we do not have any age restrictions for our volunteers. Read below to see the types of projects you can help complete.
Homeowner Projects:
Make a difference with the residents of New Orleans. We provide opportunities to assist homeowners in a variety of revitalization projects. Homeowners who simply ran out of money need help with landscaping, painting and light rebuilding.

Vacant Property:
Although New Orleans has seen tremendous recovery since Katrina, many homes have been abandoned due to lack of funding. Help a neighborhood by assisting with debris removal, cleaning and groundskeeping.

Civic Beautification:
From community gardens to parks, a fresh greenspace provides residents with a beautiful atmosphere for work, play and rest. You can continue New Orleans’ beautification by working on playgrounds, community gardens and greenspace.
